Dezi Freeman killed by police in Victoria's north-east after seven-month hunt

I'm not a fan of the police shooting people dead, and would have preferred they arrested him and put him on trial. Sure, you could argue the community is safer without a murderous, gun-toting, SovCit on the loose. To add to my concerns, I think he's going to be mythologised by SovCit folks as a hero who fought the system and went out in a blaze of glory.
Back in August last year, Dezi Freeman evaded arrest at his home in Porepunkah on allegations of violence, some possibly of a sexual nature, and some possibly involving children. He shot at the police and killed two. For the last seven months, it was suspected he was hiding nearby and receiving help from family or friends. Despite the media suggesting he was experienced with hiking and the outdoors, and the shit that Preppers like to claim about their skills, there's a practical limit to how well a human can live in isolation.

#LoRaAPRS originated in Austria. I helped translate German documentation into English and Spanish to bring it to ITU region 2. It's more wide-spread in Spanish speaking countries than the US.

Noszenie broni osobistej w plecaku. Serio?
Pewien zyskujący na popularności fp opublikował grafikę zachęcającą do trzymania broni osobistej w plecaku ewakuacyjnym. W kontrze do tej rady postanowiłem odświeżyć swój stary post w tym temacie.
Niektórzy preppersi noszą broń na co dzień: gaz, nóż, spluwę. I dobrze. Problem zaczyna się wtedy, gdy ktoś pakuje ją do plecaka albo głęboko do torebki. Wiesz, jak wtedy wygląda samoobrona? Ktoś cię atakuje, a Ty ściągasz plecak, rozpinasz zamek, grzebiesz w komorze… No nie.
Jeśli broń nie jest pod ręką, to tak, jakbyś jej nie miał. Napastnik nie będzie grzecznie czekał, aż ją znajdziesz. A jeśli masz pecha, to ją znajdzie pierwszy i użyje przeciwko Tobie.
Jasne, może Ci się trafić pajac, który najpierw coś tam pokrzyczy, postraszy, da ci te kilka sekund na reakcję. Może uda Ci się go zagadać, że sięgasz po portfel. Jednak liczenie na coś takiego to hazard, a nie po to nosimy broń aby liczyć na farta. Broń w samoobronie działa tylko wtedy, gdy możesz jej użyć od razu, bez kombinowania.
Jeśli decydujesz się na noszenie broni, zadbaj o odpowiednie jej umiejscowienie oraz regularne szkolenie z używania tej broni. Zadbaj o kondycję i naucz się chociaż podstaw samoobrony abyś w szamotaninie był w stanie dobyć broń. Zapoznaj się z obowiązującymi przepisami prawnymi dotyczącymi posiadania i noszenia broni. Poczytaj o sprawach sądowych dotyczących skutecznej samoobrony przy użyciu broni lub niebezpiecznych narzędzi, być może ostudzi to chęć przetestowania szpeju na polu walki. Naucz się oceniać sytuację i deeskalować konflikty. Pamiętaj też, że najlepsza walka to ta, której udało się uniknąć a do pierdla łatwiej trafić niż się z niego wydostać.

Prepping rzadko zaczyna się od wizji końca świata.
Zaczyna się od świadomości, że rzeczy czasem po prostu przestają działać.Brak prądu.
Brak wody.
Awaria, która „miała potrwać godzinę”, a trwa cały dzień.Nie da się myśleć o szmidtowskich scenariuszach, jeśli nie radzimy sobie z tymi małymi.
Dlatego prepping to nie tylko gadżety i czarne scenariusze, ale budowanie niezależności, umiejętności i spokoju w głowie.Tu będę pisać o przygotowaniu rozumianym właśnie w ten sposób.
Bez straszenia.
Z myśleniem do przodu. -

For some od reason your country/state/island shuts down its internet providers. Net will not come back in its former cheap always reliable way for years due the politics/disasters/sharks eating the cables.
What will you lose in personal life? Lets leave work out for now. Is ALL of your entertainment, social life, library of knowledge net dependant?
Mine is not.
