  4. An emerging trend: restaurants, pubs, cultural venues and others banning #PervGlasses, to protect the #privacy of their guests:

And no: it's not privacy "fears". It's about respect – those owners know what they owe to their guests.

  5. @NebulaTide It looks like the Californian age verification bill.

That combined with chat control 1.0 or even 2.0 sounds like an Orwellian nightmare. Hell no.

What a group of professional enshittificators.

  9. Just met my first #glasshole in person

Asked him why he was wearing them

He said he'd "the feeling he needs them" because you can hear music with them ¯\(°_o)/¯

And saw no problem with #privacy at all - from what he'd said he didn't know the concept...

Got a bit pissed that I asked him, bc he saw it as "his decision" & "freedom" to wear a piece of surveillance tech in his face

How do you guys act in situations like this? Or am I too 2010ish ;)?

  11. We already restrict our kids access to the internet. No government necessary!

I do agree kids under about 14-15 should be kept far far away from social media and user generated content. But age verification is not the way, parents need to enforce it if they want it, not a state ordered digital ID.

  12. 🇺🇸 Unique but effective solution

Regretful cities aren't sure how to cancel their surveillance contracts, so they are literally covering their cameras
The city of Dayton, Ohio has covered its Flock automated license plate reader cameras with 👉 black trash bags in part because police there are unsure whether the cameras are still active and the city also doesn’t seem to know whether it is allowed to take the cameras down

  13. Guilty until proven innocent: shoppers falsely identified by facial recognition system struggle to clear their names

    theguardian.com/technology/202

    > People shamed and ordered to leave shops after being misidentified then ‘given no help’ to investigate verdicts

99.98% accuracy is good. But sadly it does not say anything about precision and thereby false positives. It merely states the system flags most of the true positives, even if it hides them a see of false positives.
