Eventually some of the species will be thinned leaving the best performers at a spacing that suits the final goal of complete canopy cover and wild understory which is common of subtropical vegetation in this location.

As the site matures, shade-loving species will be added as I can propagate them. Plus more Lomandra, you can never have enough.

Just saw a shadow move towards our fig tree grove from a distance, went closer to investigate and eventually found this specimen high up in the branches! 🦎 No wonder the birds were sounding the alarm! 🚨 This beautiful Goanna could easily empty their nests 🪺🔜🪹 check out how they wrap their long tail around the tree for balance; from head to tail I'd guess this one to be approximately 1.8m long. Beauty! 🤠 (Where is a DSLR with a decent zoom lens when I need it... 🙈)
