In the past few days, I found myself rereading Stone of Farewell by Tad Williams. I greatly admire his writing, even though his books take me quite a while to finish. I'm not sure if it's the density of the text or the endless number of other readings I need to get through as a teacher. Either way, it's always a pleasure to return to the world of Osten Ard.

I stepped away from this book for a few weeks. While it's deeply captivating, it's the kind of story that truly shines when read at a leisurely pace. The world of Osten Ard is breathtaking, even in its darkest corners. Part of that slower rhythm comes with the territory—this is, after all, the notorious 'middle book' of the trilogy, where everything that can go wrong, does.
