A simple restart kicked it in the pants and got it back to normal.

Just 12 hours after realizing that the down NHL API is not temp but a permanent shift to a new path, AND despite a number of prominent stats page hosts gatekeeping the information, I found some awesome people who have been working diligently to map the new API.
