I just discovered that the #STARvoting hashtag has been getting some use: not often, and mostly not recently, but encouraging! (By way of explanation: I used to be an advocate of STV, but since noticing some problems with ranked-choice voting as implemented in Minneapolis, I came to a conclusion that STAR voting in one of its many forms would probably be a big improvement not only on RCV but on STV too). Voting for President of the USA is a mess!
The national popular vote[1] is a better option than the electoral college based only on the history.
Trump proves the EC can't be relied upon to even perform their purported mission.

RCV/IRV poses a serious risk to election security by introducing a requirement for a centralized single point of failure.
The current ability to have distributed counting and checks and balances at all of the different physical locations makes it much harder to attack the counting of elections in a way that affects the outcome.
Changing the election system to remove these safeguards is not a smart thing to do!

@tcely @serenebabe It's really not meaningful to talk about 3rd party candidates as anything but spoilers unless we're simultaneously talking about good voting reform like #approvalVoting or #STARVoting. It doesn't particularly matter what their values or platform are. They're just a torpedo.
