Third SSDI verification came in today. AKA, the actual official decision letter. Happy to note that all my calculations on back were correct(as in all I made after I knew how much my benefits were). Biggest thing I was looking for was the "continuing disability review" part. By law, SSA reviews all SSDI cases periodically, with a range depending on how likely you are to recover. I got the 5 to 7 one, "not expected to recover" one. This means student loan discharge! #disability #ssdi

While I didn't actually need it, it is nice that my lawyer also confirmed he received notice of SSDI approval. Whole phone call was a bit of a celebration as he was as surprised as I was. 22ish days from submitting appeal to approval is simply unheard of according to both what I have read and my lawyers experience. From what understand, there is around a 16% chance on 1st appeal. Was fully expecting ALJ Hearing. #disability #ssdi #ssa

The Day the New Deal Was Born, New York Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire:
On Saturday, March 25, 1911, at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, a lethal fire broke out on the factory floor. more than one hundred women and two dozen men. Less than three weeks after the fire, on April 11, 1911, factory co-owners Isaac Harris and Max Blanck were indicted on charges of manslaughter - but when the case went to trial that December, they were found not guilty.

The attached video includes audio from that Triangle Fire 50th Anniversary Commemoration, March 25, 1961. Hear: former Labor Secretary Frances Perkins. In her own voice, you will hear Madame Perkins say,
"I am one of the very few people still alive who not only remember the triangle fire, but who saw it ... that with affection and respect upon those who died on March 25th, 1911, in this great fire. I did not expect Jimmy Carter to be the reason I don't hear what my decision is this week.

I'm raising $350 for food, gas, toiletries and phone for the month of January.

I've been without income since late February 2023. I've been in the midst of the process to get SSI/SSDI since early March 2023. I've had two denial and appeals, followed by an ALJ hearing in September 2024.

And, most employers do not offer #fulltime work for most of their employees. So, requiring fulltime work for any kind of #disability benefit/access doesn't make sense.

In #Wisconsin, there is a progressive adaptation to allow #disabled workers to still get #unemployment benefits. But, Wisconsin undercuts that by banning completely unemployment for those who get #ssdi.
