Venus is drifting by the star Spica in the evening sky. Venus is now showing as a crescent.
First photo is a tight crop and used a 400mm lens and a very short exposure because the surface brightness of this cloud-covered planet is very high.
Second photo is nearly the entire frame with the same lens. Spica is much fainter than Venus.
Third graphic is a wide angle finder chart from planetarium sky simulation software.
Over the next week or two you'll see Spica and Venus move apart from each other.
