COVID-19 is not over.

Tonight's #SomethingPositive is baby bunnies.
We accidentally uncovered this nest of bunnies a few years ago. It was in some tall grass we cut. Mama probably hid them in our yard because we have dogs, which probably wouldn't notice them (in fact our terrier mix, Charlie, walked right on top of them without noticing) and would keep away the bald eagle who hangs out nearby, as well as the coyotes.
I put a dog fence around them just to be sure, and made sure it was open every evening so mama could get in and feed them. And of course, I set up a camera.

Last night's #SomethingPositive was about that moment when you feel like you've succeeded as a parent. That was about my daughter Shireen, so now it's Shadi's turn. I think the moment hit when I was lying on the floor of her apartment drinking pink lemonade and vodka with her while we debugged a shell script she was writing for her job doing QA on a home robot. Just a few years before, she'd been an art student building interactive room installations. Now she's building tools to track team and process productivity at major online retailer.
Although she did like the Shamshir I got her for Christmas. That caption made me hapoy :). She has an impressive collection of bladed weapons in her home. We may have to battle it out for my mother's sword cane. I probably shouldn't have given her all my knives.

Tonight's #SomethingPositive. How do you know when you've done a good job parenting?
When your kid is away at school and you check FB and discover she stole your "Don't blame me, I voted for Bill and Opus" t-shirt and is wearing it while she directs a short horror movie based on Zenna Henderson's "The Noise-Eater".
(Yeah, this was a long time ago. Nowadays she's got her own place, her boyfriend's replica of Anduril hangs on the wall next to her great grandfather's copies of Lord of the Rings, and she falls asleep by listening to Deep Space Nine episodes. I'm going to call it a win. :)

Tonight's #SomethingPositive photos.
In Mexico, April 30th is El Día del Niño; children's day. Parents take their kids out for something special, and the schools have a big party for the kids.
These photos were taken in Plaza Mexiamora in Guanajuato City, Guanajuato State. The plaza also serves as the playground for the local school, the school band practices there as well, and there are always some abuelas selling sweets and drinks.

Tonight's #SomethingPositive photos were taken in 2011 at the restaurant "Cabbages and Condoms" in Bangkok, Thailand.
The lampshades, flowers, and other decor are all made out of rolled up condoms.
If you're wondering about the last mannequin in golf attire...Tiger is a condom brand. :)
The organization operates as a “Business for Social Progress”, and all profits support the The Population & Community Development Association (PDA) and its programs in primary health, education, HIV/AIDS, rural development, environment and water…. The restaurant is one of the ways it raises money.

I was working in my office when all of a sudden I heard them calling, "Baba! Baba! Come see!"
And this is what I saw.
Shadi on the left looks so proud of herself! Always the troublemaker. Shireen is a tad more concerned.I'm not sure "positive" is the right word, but it was amusing.

Tonight's #SomethingPositive bedtime photo is of some chihuahua mix puppies we fostered a few years back.
Yes, the yellow one was from the same litter.
The second picture is when we babysat her and her buddy after after she'd been adopted.
And then when she was an adult. THE TAIL!I should note that mamahuahua looked like a perfectly normal large chihuahua. Dog genetics are weird.
