  1. ♻️ [Snap] qBittorrent updated to 5.2.0

    ⚠️ qbittorrent-tak potential issue
A snapcraft update problem might prevent the launch of the app.

Command to remove the lockfile that prevents the launch:

    sudo rm /root/snap/qbittorrent-tak/current/.config/qBittorrent/lockfile

    Working on an automatic fix.

  7. I've spent some time on an example project that shows how to use GitHub workflows to fully handle publishing.

Anything that builds, passes tests is published to the edge channel of the latest track.

Anything that is tagged similarly goes to latest/candidate

A manual dispatch promotes releases from latest/candidate to latest/stable.

You can grab the workflow from github.com/zyga/hello-rust

  12. The ecosystem is interesting. Learning from to produce a concise artifacts.

What makes it different is targets are based on which craft you use. Like if you want an app, then is likely it. But is a new one to target debs directly. Or say which creates an os image.

In nix you target all the things with the same language. But I think this approach of target based tooling makes sense as well. 😅

  17. I made a thing that shows new apps and updates in the #Ubuntu #Linux #Snapcraft store. Updates hourly or so. Handy if you wanna see what's new. Has RSS too for retro feels. Probably has bugs.

  36. Runner up in "problematic downstream/distros packaging behavior" is #Canonical insisting on packaging old buggy versions in #Ubuntu using their endemic #Snap format. Ex.: snapcraft.io/gnome-calendar
It'd be really nice if they'd stop doing that, this is absolutely detrimental to the app's developers.

#SnapCraft creates confusion, until users eventually go out of their way to surgically remove it from their desktop OS in the same way Raiden rips out spines to acquire electrolytes.
