I can absolutely understand it being waaaaaay too much, though. It feels like there are minigames within minigames, for god's sake. (I shudder at the thought of what the Gold Saucer is going to be like.) But, I have to say that I haven't been bored, like, ever! I can't help but count that as a positive in my book 👍

I don't think I've ever mentioned it here, but it's no secret that I'm not a huge FF7 person. (FF6 is the best one.) Nor am I a very nostalgic person
But for some reason, these remakes have made me feel nostalgic in a way I don't think I've ever felt before. It's pretty cool 😎 I guess I'm learning that I've been holding space for FF7 without realizing it

My favorite part might be just how fucking goofy it is. The moments where the game takes itself seriously have been few and far between

So, yeah, I just got done with Costa del Sol and am now exploring the land around it. I haven't been able to post about playing so far because I can't pull myself away from it long enough to do so. It's pretty great! :toot:

Well, it definitely performs on Steam Deck... I don't know if I'd say that it does it "well" though. Everything looks pretty rough 😬 But I don't really give a crap at this point - I just want to play!

This is a sad and kind of embarrassing day. I've had my GTX 1080 for about ten years and it's served me well. It has even kept up reasonably well with recent releases. I had trouble with Alan Wake 2 and Final Fantasy XVI, but this is the first time a game has simply refused to launch because my GPU was too out of date
So, to me, today is the day my graphics card died. It's been real, but it's time to say "goodnight, sweet prince" 🫡
...Luckily, FFVII Rebirth is Steam Deck verified so I should be able to play it there. I hope it performs well...

It took a few hours but I finished Intermission! Now that I reread the requirements for getting the Leviathan and Ramuh summons in Rebirth, though, it seems like I just needed save files from both parts of Remake and I didn't have to actually beat anything... Whoops!

...Buuuut, even though I installed it remotely while I was at work, I accidentally installed it on my Steam Deck instead of my PC. So now I have to wait for it to download again... I won't be able to play it until morning 😭
I guess that's okay because it gives me time to finish the Intermission DLC for FFVII Remake. I thought I was going to have to miss the Ramuh summon in Rebirth because I hadn't beaten it and that was kind of a bummer. So this snafu is a blessing in disguise, I guess 🤷

I can't finish Final Fantasy IV because today is Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth Day! I've been way more excited for this one than I would have thought 😅 I think it's going to be great!

Well, shit. With everything that's been going on, I haven't felt up to playing games. So, I haven't finished Final Fantasy IV... I've made it pretty far, though. (I think I'm two dungeons from the end 🤔) I'll have to come back to it in a little while to finish it. I've had some thoughts along the way, though:
- I like that almost every chest with good stuff has monsters inside. It's a cool way of building anticipation
- I also like that every world has difficult, optional dungeons that are just out in the open. It's like you can choose to challenge yourself or just play the story
- I didn't realize that this game has a SPACE WHALE as the last(?) airship. I fucking love flying whales :skullhearts:

Okay, I will admit that it's pretty funny how the game keeps tricking me into thinking that Cid is dead and then he pops up again later. The coot can't be killed!

But that brings me to my biggest issue with this one: the cast

I've never liked how the characters are handled in this one. I mean, I appreciate that it's something different from what I'm used to. But the fact that party members are always coming and going keeps me from wanting to grind. Grinding is an investment and why would I want to invest in characters that are going to die or go away after the next dungeon? I like the idea but, in practice, it's just not for me
At the moment, I'm pretty sure two out of my four party members are permanent-ish. (Cecil and Yang.) I'll build them up a little bit before moving on

And it's harder than I remember! I've got to stop and do some grinding now because I'm constantly getting my shit rocked by random encounters :mario_flop:

The Pixel Remaster looks so good! I was never a fan of the graphical style of the first five-ish games but, now that they've been touched up, I think I finally get it. The new water/spell/map effects really add a lot, if you ask me

I haven't posted about this one yet because I'm still in the beginning stages of the game and I'm on autopilot. (I've played the first part several times in the past.) But I'm home sick from work today, so I've got nothing to do but play it!

And the next one is... *drum roll* ...Final Fantasy IV! There's no reason I picked this one over any others except that it's supposed to be on the shorter side. (I want to finish it before Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth comes out)
I've played the 3D remake before but I don't think I ever beat it 🤔 Well, this time I'm playing the Pixel Remaster and I'm going to finally finish it!

So, it's gotten to the point where I'm facing high-level marks and I'm faced with a question: do I keep working on finishing the hunts (and collecting achievements) or do I move on to the end of the game? I'm really enjoying my time with the game but I have a BIG list of games to play... I can always come back and keep working on them later if I want. I don't know - what should I do?

Like this one. It's hard to tell from the screenshot but it's a Baphomet-looking ass lightning goat! That is, hands down, some of the coolest shit I've seen in a Final Fantasy game

But holy bejesus, I love the combat in this one. The gambits are just so satisfying when they're working the way I want. Plus, I'm slowly learning to tweak them mid-battle when they're not. Absolutely brilliant and I wish they would try something like this again
