One of my sneaky work tricks is to have a playlist that's the length of time I can work (15 minutes, 30, 45, 60, ect). I set the playlist and I don't need to worry about alarms because I simply work until the music stops. #AmWriting #LianaEdits #ProTip #SkyWriters #LifeHack

Every book (for YA and older) needs a Moment of Despair. A moment when the hero loses everything. Their friends are gone. The music ends. For this moment, the villain has triumphed and the hero has been destroyed.

It is super important to set small goals when writing a novel and not push past them. Trying to write 10k a day is a fun experiment, but not sustainable in the long term. If you want a career you need to be able to set small goals and keep them small.

Always feel free to wander around your book in the first few drafts! Go explore!
But know what you do so you know how to edit. If you're an exploratory author, you might need to trim some dead ends during edits.

Part of being a fiction author is experiencing life. Whether you do that vicariously by reading other books or watching TV, or if you go out and try new things on a regular basis, what you experience informs your writing.
Step away from the keyboard regularly and refuel.

Sometimes it's hard to remember that the only thing a rough draft needs to do is exist.
It doesn't need to be perfect. It doesn't need to be full length.
It needs to exist.

Writing fiction is a skill.
Editing is a skill.
Writing queries is a skill.
Writing a synopsis is a skill.They are all part of writing but having one skill doesn't automatically grant you the other skills.
