Es kommt ja selten genug vor, dass sich #Lovecraft ins #Feuilleton verirrt, aber in der #FAZ heute trifft Kira Kramer ins Schwarze, wenn sie #Grok als einen #Shoggoth darstellt:
„Die Shoggothen sind bei Lovecraft biologische Maschinen. Die „Älteren Wesen“, eine uralte außerirdische Spezies, erschuf sie als ihre lebendigen Werkzeuge: Sklaven, die allen Wünschen ihrer Meister gerecht werden und dabei zu Beginn keinen eigenen Willen oder Intelligenz besitzen; lediglich die Fähigkeit, jede beliebige Form anzunehmen und durch pure Nachahmung alle ihnen gestellten Aufgaben zu erfüllen. Oof, this kinda feels like a dark take, leaping fully into the maw of the machine in hopes of attracting relevance. But, I can't say it's entirely incorrect:
By writing, you are voting on the future of the Shoggoth using one of the few currencies it acknowledges: tokens it has to predict. If you aren't writing, you are abdicating the future or your role in it. If you think it's enough to just be a good citizen, to vote for your favorite politician, to pick up litter and recycle, the future doesn't care about you.

Heh. I came across this story yesterday and wasn't surprised.
"Scientists have discovered an 'astounding diversity' of giant viruses taking on 'previously unimaginable' shapes and forms in just a few handfuls of forest soil.
"These giant viruses have alien-looking appendages and internal structures that have never been seen before.
"The soil sample was collected in 2019 from Harvard Forest, a short drive from Boston in the US."
