For those overseas, it’s a NZ thing where tweeps sign up to secretly gift a present to someone, with hints posted on Twitter. If you’re on Twitter, but haven’t heard of it before you can catch a little of the action by searching the hashtag on Twitter.

Update: they have opened it and they like it 💚 They're not on Mastodon, so I'm sneakily sharing their photo on here - I gave them chocolate, a planted native tree, spoke reflectors for their bike, and bookmarks. The green and white thing is the main gift - a waterproof kneeling pad because they love gardening. I made that one myself - dense foam, oilcloth, and upholstery fabric for the handles 👍 #SecretSantaNZ2022

One of the best things about NZ Twitter is/was #SecretSantaNZ2022 (suspect it'll move over here wholesale next year) - it's a nationwide gift exchange between strangers that somehow always works out? It's delightful. Today is gift opening day, so I thought I'd share what I got - an incredible book about climate justice in Aotearoa AND everything I need to make a cross-stitch climate change temperature chart! My Santa is so thoughtful 💞 (my Santee hasn't yet opened their gifts from me)
