I do not often have any contact with recipients of the bikes I furnish people through agencies. But oh, my, when I do!

I put a label on each bike saying "prepared especially for you by Second Chance Bikes" and to call me if any problems, with my cell number. The labels were a gift to me from my adult daughter, as were the decorative streamers in handlebar ends that I affixed last night.

So tonight I missed a call but got these texts from the same number:

I picked up a donated gem on Sunday. Nice large frame 2008 Raleigh mtn bike. Luggage rack, removable front basket, original owners manual w/maintenance history! I always try to get ones like that to people who can take best advantage. Ideally someone who lives & works in Chicago, where bike commuting would not just be a stopgap until they can buy an old car like in the suburbs. WR settles a lot of refugees in the city; I provided 13 for that purpose last June.
