Argh, I have a bunch of languishing projects I'm eager to spend some back-to-back hours on, but I have to go sit in an ophthalmology waiting room for the afternoon.
On a related note - there are letters in "ophthalmology" that I never noticed were there before. Unlikely I'd nail it in a #scrabble game.

Whelp. It finally happened.
No one in my family will play Scrabble with me. They all tapped out. So I play online. My win streak was snapped at 219. By ONE point.
This person wanted a rematch. I avenged my loss with a 543 to 302 win. But my streak is gone.

Thinking about my Grandmother. She passed away in 2007 but something that just happened reminds me of some things.
She was an avid #scrabble player. Incredible with words, especially the placing of long words next to another long word and getting a line of 2 letter words to go. Every time I visited from my 20s I would play at least one game with her. I would always try to win but never got close.
In 2006 or so we played again and it was likely the last game we would ever play - she was not well. Her head wasn’t what it was. I still had never beaten her. I had a hand that I would have died for - the letters that would fit on the table, on a triple word score, and connecting to a couple of other words. Would have put me nearly 100 points up and not many places for her to beat me. I took so long on that turn. Do I try to win the last game we ever played (I wasn’t certain of that but we didn’t play much any more)I played another good word but kept my score within her reach.
She ended up winning by very few points.
I didn’t want to win against her when she was not at her best, but I also knew that I would have won that game if I had played to win.
Sometimes it not the winning that matters

Been procrastinating a bit and doing some speed tidying as a break from a big funding application. I was delighted to rediscover my ancient Scrabble box which was a 9th birthday present many, many moons ago. Freaky Frog has been the keeper of the tiles since the beginning and I made him in primary school - he was allegedly an oven glove but would have been a very ineffective one! #nostalgia #FrogsOfMastodon #BoardGames #Scrabble

So, I play a lot of #ScrabbleGo . An unhealthy amount, probably, but that isn't what I'm writing for. Starting yesterday, the ever-present and usually completely ignorable #ads were at least 50% replaced by #DHS ads featuring #KristiNoem in poorly dubbed #Spanish, telling people to #SelfDeport. As obscenely evil as this is, being directed at #DocumentedImmigrants as much as #Undocumented, I took pleasure in the stupid waste of money it is. How many blue collar #Latine immigrants play #Scrabble ?

Er gewinnt sogar in Sprachen, die er selbst nicht spricht, sondern das #Vokabular nur (!) über sein fotografisches #Gedächtnis gelernt hat.
Als #Muttersprache spricht er Englisch. Gewonnen hat er auch in Spanisch und Französisch;
Faszinierend und für mich unvorstellbar! 🤔
