We were allowed back into our neighborhood over the weekend and were excited to find our poor wind battered and smoke damaged house still standing.Naturally I brought back a daily typewriter, but it was eerie to see what I’d last typed on it two weeks ago just before we had to evacuate.

Hear me out - gigantic wind ramps placed strategically everywhere - the wind harmlessly flies over us and into the ocean #santaanas #winds #california #fires

Those scary high winds in California… if you’ve never experienced them, they’re fcking wild. Nothing in the east will prepare you for them. They’ve moved into the SFBA today, too. It’s beyond control. They’re fire winds. #wildfires2025 #SantaAnas #CAwildfires #SFBay

Now that everyone has had a chance to catch our collective breath, Santa Ana winds are picking up in Los Angeles after a pause, and are forecast to continue through Wednesday. Gah! At least they're not predicted to be as strong as the 100 MPH ones that were present when the conflagrations took off.
For those who can, World Central Kitchen has been asking for donations. They're feeding people for free at 6 locations.
Land there is generally considerably more valuable than the real estate atop it. I hope those who are approached by speculators to sell that valuable burned land, perhaps for pennies on the dollar, resist. A local realtor, one representing sellers, should be on their side. And I hope they stay and rebuild with help from state and local institutions. Habitat for Humanity is committed to help.

Hope all you #losangeles area pilots and aircraft owners checked your tiedowns last night! #windy #weather #santaanas

The Santa Ana winds - into the 50's sustained - are driving the Mountain Fire and will continue until Thursday evening. "On the conservative side, at least 75 homes have been lost."
These are obliterated. Multi-million dollar homes in a blowtorch. There is nothing left of many structures but their chimneys.

KTLA: 3 people injured at #Disneyland when pole fell in Main Street area. Per Anaheim Fire, wind believed to be cause. Wind also blamed for a tree falling on Tustin house and a small plane flipping over on runway at John Wayne Airport.

It's dead still here right now - and hot. Must be #SantaAnas??
