    He Threw His Glove at a Bunt… What Does the Rule Say?

    Clayton Kershaw threw his glove at a bunt attempt, but it never touched the ball.
    Under Rule 5.06(b)(4)(B), if a fielder throws his glove and hits a batted ball, runners get three bases.
    Since there was no contact, the play was legal — but right on the edge.

    Rare Rule in Action: Umpire Interference on a Throw

    Luis Torrens tried to throw out a runner at third, but the ball hit the umpire’s mask. Under Rule 5.06(C)(2), that’s umpire interference, the ball is dead, and runners go back. A rare rule — and the ump even called it on himself.
