Bike World turned a Meteor 350 Supernova into a trials bike!

So, now that we know the ECU swap allows the Meteor 350 to perform beyond the stock limiter, I'm excited to experiment with gearing and power.
It will be interesting to see how we can turn a bike made for highly regulated markets into something that can keep up with a small v-twin, and using only drop-in mods.
It's a real testament to Royal Enfield and the aftermarket.

Further confirmation...
Tonight I took the Meteor to a spot on my commute where I regularly hit the speed limiter. It's a decline with new pavement, on a closed road (concrete barriers). The speed limit is 75 mph, and any creep above that would cause the bike to buck as the ECU choked it.
Though the speed is sufficient, the inertia changes are dangerous, imo, so I feather the clutch, which is still not ideal.
Tonight we made 85 mph top speed (137 kph).

Myth Confirmed:
Swapping a Hunter 350 throttle body (mated with ECU) for the Meteor 350 stock throttle body eliminates the speed limiter.
A quick test ride netted a top speed of 76 mph (122 kph) on a flat road with ~250 lb payload of rider, saddlebags, and gear.
In order to reach it's true potential, we'll need to add a performance cam.
In the meantime, stay tuned for footage.

I've got a Hunter 350 throttle body on the way, will be mounting on my Meteor 350.
This will be the first swap of four, in this progression:
- throttle body (speed limiter delete)
- front sprocket (gear up)
- rear sprocket (gear up)

Newbie rider tip: if you wear Mechanix FastFit gloves, go ahead and tear those tags out.
If they slip out during a ride, there's a solid chance they will slap your forearms silly. At 70 mph, it feels like what I imagine getting a tattoo feels like.

To my fellow #meteor350 owners: be careful not to over-adjust your headlight vertical focus! I did exactly this, and it's a simple fix job, but still a #royalpain that involves removing your bucket.
If you do have to replace the adjustment nut, I recommend also getting a slightly longer bolt.
For reference: both are schedule M5 (thread pitch 0.80).

As much as I'd like to pick up a DNA filter setup for my Meteor, it's a much more interesting prospect to print custom cover plates and test similarly sized K&N filters.Will update

In the first week of ownership, I will have earned my first maintenance window on this new Meteor 350.
That's 300+ miles in 7 days, on my first motorcycle, just commuting and riding for pleasure.
I can't describe how excited I am to start promoting our riding club and the plans we have for it.
