I came across an uncorrected proof of Shuang Xuetao's Rouge Street (Yanfen Street), translated by Jeremy Tiang, in a charity shop completely by accident. I had never heard of him, and I think this is the first translation into English of any of his works, but this (a collection of three novellas) is one of the best things I've read this year. I love it when that happens, and can't wait for more of his works to be translated into English (he's very well known in China but not here).
The blurb mentions Wang Xiaobo, Hemingway, and Murakami as his mentors.
