  1. River otter I photographed the otter day on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. It was leaving its scent on moss and boulders, probably marking its territory for potential mates or rivals.

  2. @moelassus Good Morning.
You know it's going to be there, and make everyone angry and tense. Only sensible thing to do, is FLOOD SOCIAL MEDIA with #DistractingStuff #Otters
We don't have SEA OTTERS, and often seals swim by when I'm having morning coffee.
But, #RiverOtters come out in the harbour on low tides regularly. Pretty sure that's an otter head

Today I learned about giant Amazonian river otters and that they are not cute and playful like the river otters everyone thinks of.

Turns out they're cousins of the honey badger and they're just as crazy.

  4. I've showed you these guys before?
When the sunrise isn't inspiring enough, this family of River Otters comes out into the harbour to put on a little show in my backyard.

  5. @HourlyOtters I've seen this @IamHula , when we come home in the dark, we passed a couple of otters doing this but it was too dark for a photo. I see them active during the day

We don't have Sea Otters in Nova Scotia (or the East Coast) these are River Otters that come into the harbour to play, feed or sleep sometimes

  6. #Otter problems? 😎 @Papablue
They are #cute until they come ashore, in your back yard, and poop on the rocks, chew at your pear trees. But, they do that more to my neighbours, for me, it's a show from my bedroom window.

  7. Sometimes it's easier to view wildlife in the city. The urbanized animals are less wary, accustomed to the coming and going of humans. These #RiverOtters were resting on the wharf. The one facing the camera was wide of face. River Ape, I thought. They are clever and powerful predators. They like to poop in the same place. Like a cat. Stinky. #UrbanWildlife #LekwungenTerritory
