  1. Thankfully there was plenty of better footage to go into this #RideToTheSun 2024 compilation video.

11 hours, and 100 miles, condensed to 18 minutes, featuring lots of cyclists, a piper, a cycle rave, Edinburgh and the sunrise over the Firth of Forth

  2. I'm not saying some of the route was rough (actually, I am, some sections of it were atrocious! 😞) but the image stabilisation on the #GoPro had an "interesting" time of it.

(Yes, I'm still editing down footage)

  3. One downside of doing a 100 mile ride rather than (well, actually in addition to...) the usual 15-20 mile one is that you end up with a similarly inflated amount of video to edit afterwards.

Currently waiting for 34GB of video to transfer from my #Insta360OneRS to my laptop so I can start on that 😀

  4. We made it. 100 miles, overnight, to Cramond just north of Edinburgh.

(we've been here a few hours now. Waiting for the bus to pick us up

  5. All aboard! Bikes packed on the trailer here in Liverpool. Next stop Carlisle for the start of the #RideToTheSun

  6. Just happened upon this old blog post mcqn.net/mcfilter/archives/tor which starts with "Well, the mammoth bike tour is over"

That was ~200 miles of cycle touring spread over almost two weeks round Italy, which was awesome.

However, tomorrow a bunch of us will be heading up to Carlisle and then riding 100 miles to Edinburgh in *a single night*

Admittedly I won't have ~30kg of tent on the back of the bike, but I think it's some sort of fitness progress 😀

  7. @WilliamNB it’s not soppy, it’s honest and resonates, a lot. Keep doing what you do Will, I enjoy reading your stuff.
I’ve done some things on and off the bike this year that I’m proud of. Especially #ridetothesun 100 miles through the night, and #BreaktheCycle Glasgow to Edinburgh, where I raised a fair bit of £ for a homeless charity. I also managed to drink a fair amount of beer with good people. 😎
    Have a good one, and here’s to 2023 🍻
