  1. The Dream Academy, Remembrance Days, 1987 on Reprise

Sophomore album from Nick Laird-Clowes, Kate St. John, and Gilbert Gabriel aka "The Dream Academy." Most well known for "Life in a Northern Town" from their debut album. This second release got less attention, but I love it - "Indian Summer" and "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime" in particular. Guests here in Lindsey Buckingham, who played on and produced two songs plus Nicky Holland (who played with Fun Boy Three and Tears for Fears). My copy—via Music Heals in Palm Springs CA—is an […]

It sometimes gets listed as one of their least successful records—the lyrics to T-Bone, for example—but I think it's got a certain rough charm. "Surfer Joe and Moe the Sleaze" is widely reputed to be about the Reprise records team, specifically Mo Ostin and Joe […]

  5. "Baby Got Back" is a song written, co-produced and recorded by American rapper #SirMixaLot. Released in May 1992 by #DefAmerican and #Reprise as the second single from his third album, #MackDaddy (1992), the song samples the 1986 #DetroitTechno single "Technicolor" by #ChannelOne. At the time of its original release, the song caused controversy because of its outspoken and blatantly sexual lyrics objectifying women, as well as specific references to the #buttocks.
