Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Reactor, 1981 on Reprise
This was the last album for Young & Crazy Horse on Reprise before the five album run on Geffin. Some would consider this a kind of punk or even post-punk (is 1981 too early for post-punk?) version of Neil Young & Crazy Horse. It sometimes gets listed as one of their least successful records—the lyrics to T-Bone, for example—but I think it's got a certain rough charm. This was the third full length from Depeche Mode, originally released in 1983 on Mute, distributed in the US by Sire. Alan Wilder had joined and wrote two of the songs on the album. (Vince Clarke had departed after the debut album). One of my favorites, including "Love, In Itself," "More Than a Party" and "Everything Counts" just on the A-side. My copy—via Beverly Coin & Jewelry—is a 2014 reissue by Rhino & Reprise pressed at Rainbo - but it sounds great. Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Zuma, 1975 on Reprise
Seventh studio album from Neil Young, and the first credited with Crazy Horse after Danny Whitten died in 1972.
The individual song credits have two songs not attributed to Crazy Horse: “Pardon My Heart” (credited just to Neil Young) and “Through My Sails” (credited “with Crosby, Stills & Nash”).
“Cortez the Killer” is a 7 and a half minute epic, and “Danger Bird” is also nearly 7 minutes – but this is Neil and Crazy Horse in full form and they sound great.
My copy—via the Worcester Record Riot—is an original Santa Maria pressing on orange Reprise labels.

Neil Young, Neil Young, 1969 on Reprise
Young’s debut solo album. It can be tricky to keep all the chronology straight here, as someone who came to Young much later in his career – but this is following his departure from Buffalo Springfield and before the first Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young record. Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere (with Crazy Horse) was the followup.
Great songs here: The Loner, The Old Laughing Lady, and I’ve Loved Her So Long. The tracks produced by Jack Nitzsche and Ry Cooder, the rest David Biggs. It sometimes gets credited as having been released in 1968 (wikipedia for example) but I believe it actually came out in January of 1969. (See this Village Voice ad citing Jan 22nd, 1969).
My copy is a 1970 US Pressing, with Neil’s name in black on the cover (first pressings left the name off) and “Stereo” at the bottom of the labels. In my collection via Crossroads Records in Portland OR.
