  1. I just learned almost everything I know about Gille Deleuze from a 13 minute YouTube video on his replacement of arborescent thinking with rhizomal thinking: youtube.com/watch?v=iDVKrbM5MI

That got me thinking at first about mental representations in grammatical theories (syntactic, morphological and phonological) – and also the prototype theory of word meanings (which seems to recast platonic ideals as mental concepts)

But then I also thought the non-hierarchical rhizomal approach to conceptualisation – I realise I may be butchering Deleuze’s ideas horribly! – suits the neurodiversity movement and the social model of disability

The idea that we are equal in standing, yet different from one another (and differently affected by our environment), is very much at odds with the normative (‘arborescent’) notion that abled neurotypical people are the ideal root of which we are but a poor imitation!
