The penultimate #Halloween pic before the last repost for the season! :zerotwoheart: From 2014, where I had decided to dress up Ara, Celi, Miyara and the comic's (eventual) animal mascot, Kimberly~ (See here: https://sakurajima.moe/@naan/111196135917142083 on why "eventual" is a keyword lol)
I had a lot of fun with this one, as it's where I started to be "experimental" with backgrounds, in this case showing mood or other elements through effects within shapes. I haven't done it in a while because I keep forgetting to do so, combined with the fact that I'm also trying to do more "proper" backgrounds XD
Anyway, costume time! Ara is dressed up as Boss from Metal Gear Solid. I had to go back to my Tumblr post to see what was my reasoning and turns out it was just that Boss kept popping up as the only candidate, as I was originally not going to draw Ara apparently. :zerotwoevillaugh: For reasons known only to me, I still think it works :zerotwopeaceout:
Celi’s outfit is a fun callback to younger me. When I made comics of "Ara & Celi" for myself in the stone ages, I drew Celi at one point with her own version of Eternal Ara’s outfit. Her ‘dress’ had jagged edges along the inner sides though, because she was “BLAGHA BLAGH DEVIL”. I honestly cannot remember WHY I did the design otherwise…but like 90% of my ideas for that proto-comic, I happily discarded it right around high school. Funny enough, in contrast to her normal outfit, it was very covered up :ChikaLurk:
Because I'm always indecisive, I had made two versions. The left one is the original version, the right is the obvious Halloween-y one.
As for Miyara, yes, the Bride of Frankenstein’s hair does not go with Frankenstein himself...but Miyara is a gremlin, who also prefers pants in everything, so I justified it as her wanting to mix everything and going ‘screw it.’ XD
