I just discovered that the #RentalCar industry -- in this case #Hertz and its subsidiary #Thrifty -- have found a new way to scam customers: "Plate Pass," a service that automatically pays bridge tolls as you drive through. In my case it paid $15 in tolls and charged a $19.98 "convenience fee." This was on the Bay Bridge, so they could have simply used a FasTrak sticker that charges ZERO extra and added the tolls to the bill. Christ.

National is the #CarRental company that I've used for over a decade for work trips. I recommended them to my friend because they have better customer service than competitors. They also have more availability & locations for pick-up/drop-off.

I remember liking #MellowGold a lot - Truck Driving Neighbours Downstairs, Beercan, & the like… But it was unpolished.
Then came #Odelay - just great song after great song, Mutations, #MidnightVultures (which felt a bit under-appreciated at the time), & then #SeaChange… Which is quite some run.
Then #Guero, which retread some of the same ground as Odelay, but delivered & more (I just love #BlackTamborine, #Girl, #RentalCar, in particular).
@billheywood @justinmikulka Big #rentalcar sell cars in 2 years. I’d bet the O&M delta would grow after that, further in favor of electrics. BTW, non-rental #fleet guidelines mandate retiring all cars at, e.g. 3-4 years, based on gasoline cost optimizations. We’ve protested that the #EVs still run perfectly with no maintenance, to no avail. So, longer time to replacement is a second cost-reduction opportunity when the pencil-pushers catch up with their actual rolling stock.
Always a relief to return the #RentalCar. I don't know how or why car owners manage the stress of being responsible for one of those things all the time.
