Schweigen schützt Täter, sprechen stärkt die Überlebenden
Als Nachtrag zum internationalen Tag gegen Folter, teilen wir heute die #CharterOfTortureSurvivors, um globale Solidarität mit denen zu zeigen, die extreme Gewalt überstanden haben.
Die Charta ist ein wichtiges Dokument auf dem Weg der Sicherung von Rechten und Schutz für Folterüberlebende. Sie wurde unter anderem in Zusammenarbeit mit 42 Überlebenden und unserem Dachverband @IRCT formuliert und beinhaltet konkrete Rechtsforderungen, die sich an alle UN-Mitgliedsstaaten richtet.
Angeführt wird sie durch die Stimmen der Menschen, die Gewalt überlebt haben und weiterhin für ihre Rehabilitation und den Schutz kämpfen, den sie und andere Überlebende brauchen um zu heilen.

Bill C-12 is the successor to Bill C-2, the so-called 'Strong Borders Act,' which was introduced in June by the federal government. Bill C-2 was rejected by over 300 organizations from across Canada, for whom this initiative posed a threat to human rights, refugee and migrant rights, and privacy of all residents of Canada.
