  1. How to fix this wheelbarrow:

    1. New tire for $10.00 at Harbor Freight (check your exact size)
    2. New wheelbarrow grips for $12 or so. (I was cheap, and replaced mine with old bicycle tires).

  2. Almost done! Went rummaging around a bucket of bolts and found two that would work. Now I just need to hacksaw off the too long bolts and give it another layer of linseed oil. I opted for just whatever bolts I had here with large washers instead of carriage bolts. #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #repair #diy #wheelbarrow

  3. Anyway, now stalled out as I need properly matched nuts for my bolts, and apparently I have fine thread nuts (but no fine thread bolts, only coarse bolts), plus some metric nuts (also don't work). I may have the right bolts hiding somewhere, but it's probably just easier to go buy some matching hardware rather than trying to rummage through the hardware pile for 3 hours. #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #repairs

  4. Uh oh! Made a serious, strategic mistake in the wheelbarrow project. Will likely require reordering yet another set of handles. (Will reconsider what to do in daylight). Do not copy a heavily modified/jury rigged piece of equipment, is the lesson here. #wheelbarrow #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #repair

  5. Wheelbarrow parts repainted. New wheel acquired. Waiting on handles. (Will still be cheaper than a brand new wheelbarrow, but not as cheap as snagging a free one off the curb). Restoring it for family sentimental reasons more than anything, lol. #wheelbarrow #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #repair

  6. LA Times: After an L.A. windstorm, he used fallen trees to make furniture with a story behind it

"...After a 2011 windstorm destroyed over 1,200 Pasadena trees, architect Chris Peck launched Keita Design to transform fallen urban wood into handcrafted furniture.

Keita Design’s young woodworkers use sustainable practices to create unique pieces, keeping natural imperfections and warps instead of discarding them as waste...."

  7. Going with rust covering paint on this. Did a quick once over with a metal brush while wet to knock off loose rust, and I see the undercoat is most certainly that vintage leaded paint white (it has a certain sheen). So, better covered and encapsulated than removed. Washed with a degreaser. There are bits of ancient cement I can't remove... they will have to remain there I suppose. #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #wheelbarrow #repair

  8. Current status: these wheelbarrows have carriage bolts, but when they are very rusty, they spun. An angle grinder would be the best option here, but I have no angle grinder. So, manual hacksaw through the bolt (which works, but is a lot of work. But, great arm workout!) #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #repair #wheelbarrow

  9. #repair on the bench next is this older Garmin Vivoactive. It stopped working after a hot tub session. Upon opening evidence of moisture ingress, so I have dismantled and will let it dry out for a couple of days before looking more in depth for issues. #garmin #koolWatchRepairs #repaircafe #fixes #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #aberdeenshire

  15. Not sure if this is rust or just gross crud. I suspect rust. Did my best to remove it... but the only part I was not able to clean entirely. #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #kitchenaid

  20. Misc greasy parts. This was a pita. There was hardened grease behind the gears and in the gears, which hopefully was the cause of the loss of power on this. #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #grease #kitchenaid

  25. Did not take photos for most of the hour of degreasing. Didn't need to grease my phone. I suspect I may have to toss the kitty litter bucket being used for degreasing, as it is accumulating grease chunks. #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #repair #greasy #kitchenaidb

  26. Simple Green. I did a 1:10 dilution, but it appeared this was so greasy perhaps that was not the right thing. I ended up with a roll of paper towels to attempt to get the large chunks of grease picked up (still working this step, but took a break for lunch to post these). #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #grease #kitchenaid #repair

  31. Okay, updates slow because of everything beyond here, and slow as I go out there and finish. It is OLD GREASE CITY in there. And a lot of it, mixed with some new grease another family member put in there thinking a fix would be just adding grease on top. #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #repair #kitchenaid

  36. Next, the pin that holds the shaft in. Btw, remember to take a ton of pictures for any project like this. With intermediate steps. Don't lose any parts!!! I don't think an awl is the right tool for this. Btw. #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #repair #Kitchenaid

  39. Next was removing the base. You need a BIG screwdriver for this. This was easy this time, but when I initially pulled this apart it was 20 minutes plus of struggle... the screws had started to corrode themselves in place, and everything was cemented in place with old flour. I had to use a flat head instead of a Philips here to unscrew these. #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #repair #kitchenaid

  40. First part was removing the back plate. Already cleaned this part awhile back, it was so full of crusty flour you could have eaten it like a cracker, lol. #ReduceRepairReuseRecycle #repair #kitchenaid

  41. I wrote a little piece about the 3++ R's.

    • Refuse-Resist
Bring your own silver wear, thermos, to-go containers, bags, etc. Kindly suggest alts to businesses if they still use polystyrene or plastic.

    • Reduce
how much you use by choosing different products.

    • Repair
what you have to extend its life

    • Reuse
    Repurpose existing everythings

    • Recycle
    This isn't really a thing. 😅
