Von meiner Frau hatte ich zum Geburtstag nebst anderen tollen Dingen einen Gutschein für ein Frühstück im Engadin erhalten. Diesen planten wir ganz zum Schluss unserer Sommerferien, also vergangenen Samstag, einzusetzen. Da ich noch immer etwas überwältigt bin vom Erlebten, beginne ich mit diesem Erlebnis, am Schluss unserer Ferienreise.
An der Hauptstrasse von Scuol, der Stradun, steht seit etwa hundert Jahren – das Baujahr habe ich nicht mehr im Kopf – das Hotel Belvédère. Ein mondänes Hotel mit Strahlkraft. Mit Aussicht auf Piz Ajüz, Lischana und San Jon. Mit vorzüglichem Apfelstrudel, zu geniessen auf der öffentlichen Terrasse.
Das Hotel, es schreckt „Normalsterbliche“ wie uns fast ein bisschen ab: Die Schwelle im übertragenen Sinn ist sehr hoch. Auf Instagram hatte es jedoch vor einigen Wochen eine Story einer „normalen“ Influencerin, die in dieser Funktion gratis im Belvédère übernachten konnte und unter anderem auch vom tollen Frühstücksbuffet schwärmte.
Bei uns hat es geklappt: Wir fassten einige Tage im Voraus allen Mut zusammen. Wir traten ein, stellten uns vor die Reception und stellten die alles entscheidende Frage: Ist es auch für Leute, die nicht imm Hotel übernachten, möglich, ein solches Frühstück zu geniessen?
Die einfache, fast unerwartete Antwort der sehr sympatischen Auszubildenden an der Reception: „Ja, das ist möglich.“
