#Reachy Mini is a desktop robot that is currently sold for $500 for its WiFi version.

I talked to #Gemini about using my PC as an stt and tts server and a 3B small LLM. I will fine tune the small LLM to generate the text and motor response signal that I want in the form of a JSON object. My voice command will trigger the small LLM to create text and motor signals which will be acted upon by a backend server to control the robot's audio and motors. Budget: $50

Der #Reachy Mini hat mich daran erinnert, dass mich seit etlichen Umzügen ein #Karotz begleitet.

Das war ein Roboter Hase, der Kamera, Mikrofon, Lautsprecher und ein paar Apps hatte. Bestes Feature waren aber die beweglichen Ohren mit denen der Hase "Emotionen" zeigte (etwa hängende Ohren bei Verlust der Internetverbindung).

Die Server wurden leider vor 10 Jahren abgeschaltet. Aber es gibt ein fork vom OS: https://www.freerabbits.nl/

I saw this yesterday. I'm wondering how hard it would be to pair the Mini Lite with a @homeassistant back end and let #HomeAssistant use it for sensors and as a satellite for voice commands. The article says they're "fully programmable in Python", so it FEELS like that should be a possibility, but I don't have the skill set that would be required to do that. I might buy one if I thought I could use one that way.
