Water Pollution in Uganda: Our Responsibility
Water is life, yet Uganda’s rivers, lakes, wetlands, and other water sources are increasingly threatened by pollution. Plastic waste, untreated sewage, industrial chemicals, agricultural runoff, and poor waste disposal are contaminating water and harming people, fish, wildlife, and ecosystems.
Water pollution also affects communities that depend on fishing, farming, and clean water for their daily lives. When we pollute our water sources, we are not only damaging nature—we are putting our own future at risk.
Protecting Uganda’s water requires action from everyone. Authorities should enforce environmental laws and improve waste and wastewater management. Communities can help by avoiding dumping waste into drains, rivers, lakes, and wetlands, reducing plastic use, and joining environmental clean-up activities
But what is the biggest cause of water pollution in your community, and what can we do together to stop it?
