#Tesla reported owing $0 in U.S. federal #taxes for all but one of the past 20 years. A #Reuters analysis reveals how Tesla units in the #Netherlands and #Singapore in recent years posted $18 billion in #profits that were not taxed in those countries. Thanks to the help of a common corporate tactic called #profitshifting those profits were not reported or taxed in the United States, either. The maneuver likely enabled savings of more than $400 million on U.S. taxes, the analysis shows.

Not a peep from Australia's mainstream media! The Accountability and Corporate Transparency Coalition has praised the Australian government for passing world-leading tax transparency laws. These laws will require many large multinationals, including up to half of all major U.S. firms, to publicly report country-by-country tax and financial data for high-risk jurisdictions linked to profit shifting and tax avoidance. A big step forward for accountability!
