Wife took a serious spill this morning walking the dogs while I was elsewhere hiking - bad enough to head to the hospital for X-rays on the ankle. A friend took her to the ER at Vic General #yyj.
What a terrible situation. When I got there they announced it was a 9 hour wait. When I left an hour later it's up to 14 hours.
She'd had an X-ray and is literally just sitting waiting for results. Could be hours yet before someone can look.
I had to clean and dress a sizeable wound on her leg that they didn't deal with either. I had my hiking #firstaid kit with me and it felt great to be #prepared and have the right supplies on hand, but she's in a hospital ffs.
The state of our healthcare feels bad, man. Bring back the 1950's NDP. Or any government that is for the people instead of crony capitalism.

We are STILL on the same tank of #petrol.
Driving has been limited to a trip for #vaccinations (#Covid & #Shingles) & 2 trips of less than 2km for topping up the pantry.
Being #prepared for a #FuelShortage isn’t #hoarding, it isn’t #UnAustralian.

Being prepared
Anyone that has been following this blog for a while know, will know that I am someone who plans ahead. Far, far, ahead, if I get the chance… To everyone that just stumbled upon this post, and has no clue what I am writing about, well… I am AuDHD, and I need to plan ahead, as much as I am able to do. Time schedules, getting all the necessary information, looking up what I need to do and how to do it, finding the best routes, anything and everything needs to be arranged.
I am the one that will start packing bags for a (short) trip two weeks in advance. Heck, when I learned in December 2024 that I was going to move in 2024, the first thing I started doing was… Packing what I could, sorting what I could, making lists and all that… I like to be prepared, I like to know what to expect, and I just need to feel like I can be in control of things. Even if it’s just a little bit, it helps me to relax better.

This tiny thorn caused me a #puncture today.
Thankfully, I am #prepared for this inevitability and always carry a toolkit and a spare tube inside the frame of my #brompton, aswell as a pump on the frame.
(I love how neatly all of that packs.)I could've patched the tube but decided to simply swap it and patch it later.
It took a while because it's my first time but I wasn't in a hurry.There was a really nice bench nearby to work on and a small #creak to wash my hands in afterwards.
