  1. @riley I never did complete a satisfactory #pepakura style design. It was mostly exploratory for #halloween, and for the cab of aa #ppprs ice cream truck I built. That was done with manual layout from cad drawings on corrugated plastic board.

@rasterweb Do you still have this wiki source data?

  6. @LeoDJ you can't just run a fat pre-charge resistor in parallel with the contactor?

That's what we do on our #ppprs karts, but we have a manual contactor switch and wait for many seconds to watch the voltage meter go in to range. And we don't care about parasitic loss because we pull the batteries between races.

  15. @doctormo a friend told me recently that my page on Facebook says I don't use Facebook and how to reach me via other means. I haven't been on Facebook in years, and then only for #ppprs.

I forgot I did that. Any "friends" I have there don't care that much for me to ever reach out.

If I had to engage today I might consider posting responses publicly to mastodon and only leaving links on Facebook. Do they block outbound links?

  20. @rasterweb @MLE_online I will tell you that my shoulder pain responded only to one thing, and it wasn't "taking it easy." It was a thera-cane massage tool using a technique shown to me by a physical therapist.

My lower back pain (acute injury due to trying to lift a trailer loaded with #ppprs carts, combined with age related issues) improved (significantly) with core exercise: Pilates and Ice Hockey.

And then there is this gem:

  25. @rasterweb my power wheels ice cream truck has music that goes faster with speed. I was going to tie it directly to wheel speed but discovered gps (on #android) was accurate enough. I'm not sure it would be good enough if you want to achieve a sync to your pedal cranking tempo.

  30. @PeterCxy I don't do much mobile development. Years back I built an app that used GPS to report speed and I could not find a good alternative to the google API for location data, which I think is a google play services. Am I remembering right? Is there a viable alternative. (The application was to make my ice cream truck music play faster when my racing ice cream truck drove faster. #ppprs phantompowerracing.com)

  34. @niconiconi very cool. Some #ppprs racing engineers use the required power limiting fuse as a battery current sensor inside a control loop to allow maximal power to the motor during a race without blowing the fuse. They didn't bother with the Wheatstone bridge because the voltage drop at these high currents is quite significant. But the fuses are often still littlefuse brand in the 30-60 amp range.

  38. #ppprs in #chicago tomorrow.

    #electronics

When the FET's blow the day before the race you take the opportunity to open up the holes for the FET screws that aren't actually big enough to fit the head of the screw.

  39. #ppprs rebuild in progress. Area man said he was working on the battery just now.

  40. Waiting for area man to return batteries borrowed for lawn mowing his farm in the off season. #ppprs

  41. #ppprs #chicago race week is coming up and the karts are getting prepaired.

  42. powerracingseries.org/2023/02/

Marz Community Brewing is now connected with power racing series to do a race in #chicago. I plan on being there with my ice cream truck. Come out to watch, or build a car and participate!

  43. #introduction I'm new to social media. I declared Facebook a fad after doing a bit of .plan files and blogging. I never joined Twitter, tictoc, Instagram, etc.

I looked at Mastodon a few years back but didn't see much to suck me in. Now, after Musk advertised the platform, I searched for #fpga and #midi and within a few posts I bumped in to @rasterweb

I hope #ppprs will leave Facebook so I can too. I don't want to be forced to be a member of a walled garden to participate in my hobbies.
