@John @timfoster the next consideration will be availability, and cost.

In my Los Angeles neighborhood, there are NO Tesla chargers. Only CCS (maps below). I could walk 5 minutes to find a CCS #PowerFlex charger from #EDF Renewables. It cost $0.30/kWh except from 1600-2100. The nearest Tesla Chargers are at least 8 miles away. They all cost around $0.50/kWh except in the middle of the night, when they were $0.32.

So where is the industry going with this? 🤷‍♂️

Just last week, I rented a #BMWi3 through #Turo to try it out. There are ZERO Tesla chargers in my fairly affluent neighborhood, but there are many CCS chargers, including one within a 5 minute walk. I posted about this elsewhere.

Sure, a Tesla could use this location too, but they aren’t helping neighborhood charging one bit with any of their own investment initiatives.

This was installed by #PowerFlex from #EDF Renewables.

I took it straight to a charging station 5 minutes from my house, where I charged it to full capacity.

It cost a mere $1.71 for almost $20 miles before I got a notification from the #PowerFlex app that the car was done charging.

Since our 2006 (2007 MY) V6 3L Mercedes-Benz W203 will only cover 18-19 miles locally on a gallon of ⛽️ at around $5.25 currently, this is less than 1/3 of the cost per mile.

I wanted to charge the car up fully before starting my “testing” over 3 days, starting now.

Monday is E-day. We lose our gas meter, at last, and get a smart meter. And I hope to swap in digit teletext for my heat pump. And then we can join Octopus #powerflex…
