  1. Unsere Mastodon-Instanz kann wieder E-Mails versenden! 📧✅

  6. I just had a brainwave : instead of creating a mailing list to have a joint e-mail address for partners, all you need to do is to create a redirect rule that says that any mail sent to [email protected] gets copied to [email protected] and vice versa. That way you'll never need to forward a shipment tracking or train ticket email again ! Of course this supposes your MTA supports plus addressing but that's mostly everyone these days. I found this archive describing the feature back in 2005 web.archive.org/web/2008060503

  10. 📧 Uncover the power of Email Plus and Plus Addressing! 🔒
Email Plus is a method where you add a "+" to the main part of your email (before the "@" symbol) and then add any word or combination of characters after it. 🔍
    This tool can help you:
✅ Track down sources of information leakage
    ✅ Organize your inbox
    ✅ Strengthen your cybersecurity

Creating an Email Plus is simple:
    1. Enter your email when registering on a new website
    2. Add a "+" followed by a word or combination of characters
    3. Confirm your registration as usual

If you receive an email to this address that doesn't correspond to the service you created it for, you may have identified a potential source of data breach. 🚨
Email Plus is a powerful tool that helps you control information leakage and improves your cybersecurity. Become the master of your information! 💪
Share your experience with Email Plus or ask any questions you may have! 💬

  13. Okay, this is weird: when creating accounts online that require an #email address I always (well, when they allow it) use #plusaddressing and tag it with the name of the site. That way if I get #spam to that address I know who leaked/sold my details.

But today I got spam with a plus-address that I’ve never heard of, and isn’t in my password safe. Are spammers using plus-addressing for some reason?

    The address, fwiw, was garyp+gumroad@<my_domain>

    I’ve never heard of #gumroad 🤷🏻‍♂️

  18. I hate booking forms (and others, but specifically bookings) that don't accept subaddressing (plus-addressing) in email addresses and insist on "you must enter a valid email address". You stupid brain dead web developers! Read and understand that damn RFC 5233!
    rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc5233

Or if that's too sophisticated for you then at least Wikipedia
