Argh Windows 10… PC slows to a crawl, requires a hard boot to recover, comes up with both external monitors NOT DETECTED.

Try all the usual things, unplug dock, check display settings, etc.

Oh Sure, just REMOVE the Display Adapter and reboot!

Oops, that require Admin rights.
Help Desk call, reboot

MAGIC (and 30 minutes wasted), monitors are back.

risky thing to do, connecting a random USB drive. :)
