This nice article primarily focuses on the pitch clock change, but to me the infield shift ban and the base size change has been more important to improving the game. Batters are more willing to go for infield hits which leads to more base running but also more great defensive plays. To me, the game has been much better this year than the last several.

If there was a hockey game and a baseball game on at the same time, it used to basically be possible to watch almost the entirety of both, just by checking the baseball game every couple of minutes or so.

Now it’s one or the other but not both. Baseball is must-actually-watch again. It’s so wonderful.

y'all know what I wanna see? a progress bar #pitchclock! Simple, unobtrusive, easy to fit in the existing #scorebug designs. You could even put stuff inside it like the inning or pitch count! And you could also have two if you wanted pitcher and batter clocks.

adding a #PitchClock to #baseball fundamentally alters the best and most essential thing about the game--its literal *timelessness,* the clocktick fading as pitcher and batter take one another's measure--and the reason the curs at MLB have done so is that, while fans might enjoy the actual 'game' of 'baseball,' the league is in the business of producing a live TV broadcast and couldn't care less about the game per se.
