Half the characters are dead, because their healing potions have turned into whisky.

The other characters haven't noticed the deaths, because they're too drunk on healing potions to remember their own names.

Brand is sneaking into the local Mages' College chapter, to rescue Altin, and by law of averages, no, he is not successful, but he's just going to try again until he nails it, because it's less trouble to throw him out than throw them in the same cell. XD

Ivar, (former) spy, will sneak into almost any place successfully, with two possible exceptions - if Alfreda, alias Ratte (= "rat"), spy-and-worse for hire, is trying to sneak in simultaneously and complicates things, or if what he is trying to sneak into is Wulf's kitchen.

If necessary, most of them would get to where they need to be. Having said that, sneaking OUT OF things is usually much harder.

Bolt is a courier for the mob, but occasionally she's also sent to trade for supplies to make 'products' the mob sells. Owning those products isn't illicit, but transporting them is, which is one of the few criminal acts Bolt commits (delivering anonymous mail isn't a crime, per se). Blackmailed, Bolt transports the herbs unwilling because she's been ordered to do so. She needs to sneak in and out of a city that was built like a fortress on a mountainside before siege warfare became obsolete. It has few roads in and out. She and her helper, the devil-girl, must sneak out of the city with their wagon-load of trading cargo, then return without getting stopped. It helps that Bolt is a day angel. She can fly.

Since I won't comment about spoilers, I'll say only that it is part of a scheme to gather blackmail to control the devil-girl. The devil-girl is a very expensive extremely capable independent contractor. The events constitute major plot worsening. It's the beginning of the end of the novel.

The Marauders are about to infiltrate, with the intent to destroy, a laboratory producing the "Deathwish" drug.

There is a fair chance they will be successful, but it is pretty much guaranteed there will be consequences.
