They want to create a #FASCIST alternative to #EU: #LePen to #Meloni: Let’s team up and form EU #Parliament’s No. 2 group
On the eve of next week’s EU #election, French far-right leader Marine Le Pen is inviting Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to team up and form a right-wing super-grouping that would be the second-biggest party bloc in the European Parliament.The far right is projected to perform well in the June 6-9 election but there are still intense doubts about which parties would be able to work together as cross-border political groups — because many of the national parties are sharply divided — especially over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The latest projections suggest 68 seats for ID and 71 for ECR, making 139 lawmakers in the 720-seat chamber. #AfD is on course for 17 seats and the unaffiliated Hungarian Fidesz party currently has 12 MEPs. All together, something over 165 seats would seem to be in play for the (currently disunited) far right.

Sure sure, go read about #GeorgeClinton’s time as a #TinPanAlley songwriter, the seasoned session musicians that he joined with his old #BarberShop’s #DooWop group, the #Parliaments, psychedelicized by dropping massive amounts of #acid, funkafied à la #JamesBrown, to form Funkadelic. and how, possibly with a dose of #SunRa, definitely with a big hit of #StarTrek, he helped define what we now call #Afrofuturism —
but I find it more telling that a very rock/punk guy I knew who used to put on dorm parties would put this track at the end of every party mix. Twice.Because, as #Parliament, the other incarnation of Clinton’s band, would soon proclaim: WE WANT THE #FUNK.

We spoke to the Honorable Bertin Mubonzi—head of the DRC's Committee on Defense and Security and of the Network of African Parliamentarians Members of Defense and Security Committees—to explain the role of #parliaments and parliamentary committees in holding the #security sector accountable:

*grits teeth* ok so I'm a legal academic at Durham. My research is broadly #sociolegal and #qualitative, and my area is #publiclaw / #constitutionallaw. I focus much more on the non-judicial branches of the state, the #executivebranch and #legislativebranch / #legislatures/ #Parliaments. I'm *particularly* interested in the role of #officials / #civilservice/ #bureaucracy, and the maintenance of ideals in the grubbiness of organisation. I think I've used up my hashtags quota for the year....
