IT BEGINS
The first missing-sector orbweaver spiderling (_Zygiella_) of spring! I gasped and immediately got out my phone much to the bemusement of the neighbour who was putting out yard waste bags immediately in front of the fence the web was in.
Later (as I explained), this spider will start making webs with a distinctive slice cut out of them, with a signal line down the middle leading directly from the hub to its retreat.

Sorry to report that Charlotte has either abandoned her web, been eaten by a crow, or perhaps she tried to eat the wrong bug. I do wonder about that breezy day that littered her web with leaves. Maybe it proved to be too large of a cleanup job. In any case she has disappeared, so we took down the web.
Her orb-weaving cousin Iggy, however, continues trying to build its web in the most inappropriate places, i.e., the front patio entrance.

#Arachtober 25: this beautiful _Larinioides_' camouflage was so good that I was prying open a dead Queen Anne's Lace flower to see if there was a spider inside before I realized she was sitting on top of it, eating an aphid!
