Kennt jemand in #Berlin (oder nördliches Umland, #Bernau oder #Oranienburg z.b.) ein:e #Optometrist:in oder #Optiker:in der/die #Sehstärkenbestimmung bei einer kooperativen elfjährigen OHNE Tropfen macht?

Fehlende #Fachärzte werden bei uns langsam wirtschaftlich relevant. Warum? Hilfesuchende kommen zu uns traditionellen #Augenoptiker*Innen in der Hoffnung, dass wir ihre medizinischen Probleme lösen. Selbst die klinischen #Optometrist*Innen unter uns, die es könnten, dürfen das in Deutschland aber nicht. So entsteht unbezahlte Arbeit und die Kund*Innen müssen wir wieder wegschicken. Das geht mir zusehends auf den Sender 😡

Apparently it’s atypical for moving your eyes to hurt. Or moving your head suddenly. Or find text of any size and colour combination blurry regardless of correct prescription!

The latest upsell at the #optometrist is "myopia control" lenses for kids.

The idea is to slow the progression of #myopia (nearsightedness). About $300 more per pair. Gotta wear them till at least 18 starting at age 8-12.

But if your kid's like mine & might only need them sometimes... you now HAVE to wear them all the time.

They also reduce your peripheral vision through the lenses.

And at $300 per pair, say you buy new ones every couple years, that's around $1500 more.

Also, how is his vision? When was it tested last? Does #PunxsutawneyPhil see a #rodent #Ophthalmologist or #optometrist on a regular basis?
