I get no errors when fetching mail. However, no longer receive any new messages. I think messages sent to #onionmail are getting black-holed. For a while it was working but seems to be broken now.

When you connect to an onion service, TLS/SSL is normally unnecessary because Tor inherently includes an encrypted tunnel to the onion host. But the onionmail SMTP instructions say to “Use SSL via STARTTLS”, so I did, and there was no issue connecting. However, “452 Mailbox full!” is falsely given when emailing myself. So #onionmail’s SMTP is dysfunctional in that regard for sure.

@parvXm Glad to see such a comprehensive list though I think it needs updating because some of them are old and died off. Wanted to say some providers missing from the list:

I’m surprised how unpopular #OnionMail.info seems to be among those in the #fedi.

Another onionmail.info defect (I think): there is no way to access your spam folder. What happens when the server erroneously judges a msg to be spam? POP3 has no concept of folders… no way to access a spam folder. It’s a general blanket problem with all email providers but usually there’s at least a manual way to reach your spam folder. Not with #OnionMail.

Anyone who uses #OnionMail.info: the server list shows all servers are 100%. That’s bogus. One of those nodes have been down for a week and the stats still show 100% availability.

Any #Onionmail.info users out there? I’m trying to login to the onionmail website and my VMAT creds are refused (yet no problems for #POP3 logins). #AskFedi

@Doemela great project conceptually, but it's a bit bizarre & sad that when another onion ESP tries to send mail to an #onionmail.info recipient, the onionmail server refuses ("503 Can't verify sender (in reply to MAIL FROM command)").
