“I have a soccer teammate ... he was talking about leaving to go to Ardmore schools. And there’s another kid who’s already left for Ardmore schools, all because they have soccer,” said Plainview High School freshman Leila Watson.

Just finished my first of two interviews with candidates for the Southern Tech school board, a race with implications for a handful of school districts in Carter County and surrounding counties.
Check out @thisweek or @ArdmoreLeader, or search "Ardmore Leader" wherever you get your podcasts.

The local paper is covering the same story with a vital detail not included in the TV station's story:
"Community Development staff recommended denial of the permit, stating the biggest concern for the city is the impact a school would have on the city’s commercial downtown zoning district."
So it wasn't local businesses pushing back, but an #ArdmoreOK city department.

A local news story talks about downtown #ArdmoreOK merchants "pushing back against charter school" but there's just one little problem:
They didn't talk to any downtown merchants for their story. Rather they talked to one city official worried about issuing liquor licenses, and had B-roll from a public hearing on the subject (no actual comments from hearing were included in the story).
