Office Kitty sometimes likes to sit outside and look in. It is preferable to do this than going to the bother of actually asking to come inside through scratching the door or miaowing. Why bother doing that when you can just stare at the person inside and guilt them into letting you in?
She's such a cat.

Office Kitty slept in this morning with grandkids. Here she is pictured with Lamby.

She even showed how desperately hungry she was by finding a pea on the floor, biting it and leaving it uneaten on the floor ('I'm desperate, but that is too much to ask me to eat'). Now she is on sentry duty next to me hoping to guilt me into giving her food.

I am taking the weekend off to care for myself and prepare for an important work meeting on Monday. Grandchildren have been organised to visit their grandmother in hospital. Our daughter is refreshed after all the time we spent looking after her children and big chores last long weekend and yesterday. I am sitting on the couch having a delightful time sharing on Mastodon about those aspects of my life that I choose to share.
Our lemon tree is full of large fruit which we are starting to pick. Its form looks rather inelegant as we are in the midst of a multi-year pruning schedule to correct poor pruning practices of the previous owner. They only pruned it away from the fence so it developed a terrible lean. We nearly lost it about three years ago because it was so unbalanced that it was in danger of falling over. We had to shove a heavy outdoor table under it to stablise it. At least it can stand up by itself now.
A few weeks ago our grandchildren presented us with bean seeds they had been given at a neighbourhood Baha'i children's programme they attend each Saturday. They had also planted a couple of seeds in a paper cup. I put the paper cup outside and the seeds sprouted. I planted these in a planter a few days ago (pictured) and yesterday shoved a few out-of-date sugar snap pea seeds in the planter as well. I will plant the rest of the out-of-date seeds with the grandchildren at our daughter's place. We have nothing to lose by seeing if they will grow.
Given the unseasonally warm weather, I have kept the capsicum and chilli plants outside, but moved them into the sunniest position of our very shady backyard in front of the planter with the bean seedlings. For the last week or so, the temperatures have ranged between 17 and 19 degrees - ridiculous for Melbourne at the start of winter. Next week we are expecting similar temperatures!
Office Kitty is keeping a close eye on my work with the planter. I have shoved a heap of home-grown bamboo stakes in the planter not only to provide something for the vines to grow up, but to deter our cat from digging the seedlings up, sitting in the box and doing unmentionables!
By the way, did you know cats don't like citrus trees? Our cat loves climbing trees. When we moved here a few years ago we wanted to restrict her from escaping out of our place and had seen comments online that cats don't like citrus trees. We were sceptical, but our expert climber has not shown any interest in climbing our citrus trees.

I have been sick for days but Office Kitty is close by my side. It is an indoors day for her because of the rain that Melbourne had this morning, breaking a prolonged warm, dry spell.

Gorgeous day today! I am loving having a Saturday morning that I can relax at home and waste some time on here. Not being on a timetable on Saturday is an unusual state in my life atm.

I am feeling good this morning. My brother is here from interstate for a couple of weeks to assess and manage Mum to give my daughter and I respite. We are going to have to work out what extra assistance she needs as neither she nor us have been managing too well.
This means I have a couple of weeks where I don't have to be visiting her or thinking of her needs every day. This morning I booked an initial consult with a physio to get some assessment and treatment for my wibbly wobbly and painful knee. I had been so absorbed in Mum's care, my care has slipped. I have a couple of weeks now to look after myself a bit more.
I am sitting on the couch doing life admin with a cat that was sitting in a sunbeam. However, as soon as I pointed the camera her direction she changed from her languid pose into action Kitty, then walked away. So cat of her.

Office Kitty has caused a standstill to my Lego sorting as she decided to sit in the tiny spare space between me and the Lego. I now can't properly see what I am doing.

Woohoo! I won! The cat moved away of its own volition - a rare victory indeed!

Mmm. Office Kitty has taken to using Lego left lying by children on the wooden floor outside our bedroom to wake my other half at ridiculous o'clock. Apparently at about 4am she walked on Lego, picked it up with her teeth and dropped it and made lots of Lego sounds.
It worked. My partner got up, fed her, and let her outside.

Office Kitty is the office manager so perhaps it is not surprising that she needs a set of professional tools.
My weekend job is to go around the house and pick up all the bits of Lego lying around. Five year old boy has been breaking my models to make 'rubbish' for his garbage truck. There is a lot of 'rubbish' lying around.

Another gorgeous day in Melbourne today! I have opened up the bifold doors to enjoy the day while applying for jobs.
Our backyard is so much emptier after the local lawn bowls club took around 60 cuttings we were nurturing in our backyard. We can now move around a lot easier.
Note the leaves on the bamboo on the fence line. It was so dry for so long that the bamboo lost nearly every leaf. It is reviving after we had a couple of good dumps of rain. It is also covered in brown flowers. I would not have been sad to lose it because it is really a weed and has spread to under our house. We did not plant it. The fact that it survived the dryness shows how difficult it is to get rid of it.

Sitting with our bifold doors wide open hearing birdsong - one of the delights of glorious Spring days like this.
This photo was taken a few years ago. We have been living here nearly 4 years and I am still enjoying it. My ambition is to exceed my current record for the longest time I have ever lived in the same house. Currently my record is 5 years.

Office Kitty likes Lego. Every time I get Lego out she comes and sits right amongst it while I am building.
