  1. @econproph Also, to be clear, #OEGlobal22 wasn't that focused on OERs. In fact, one of the keynotes (in French) brought OE in line with #OpenInnovation while another went all the way to wellbeing. (There was also something about SpaceX.)

  2. Still haven't debrieffed from #OEGlobal22. Part of the reason is a kind of uneasiness which is hard to verbalize.

Maybe the emphasis on #OER is part of my issue. I love Open Educational Resources as much as the next #OpenEducation advocate, if not more. It's just that... Don't we run the risk of uncritically adopting a content-based stance when #EpistemicJustice is at stake?

Part of what makes it difficult to express: institutional weight.
Which is lighter in the fediverse.

  3. @stevefoerster I shouldn’t oversell it. It’ll take one form or the other. Possibly a blogpost. One thing’s for sure, I’ll be open to discuss issues discussed during #OEGlobal22.

  4. @enkerli I'm about to move house, so I'm not in a position to pay close attention to #OEGlobal22, but I look forward to your recap!

  5. @cogdog @Telias Right. The fediverse does have tools to track hashtags. By default, following them only works on your instance. Scholar.social has been appropriated by a few #OpenEducation folks (the “usual suspects”). Even then, I haven’t noticed many other uses of #oeglobal22.

  6. @mackiwg @lightweight Hoping to push a few #OEGlobal22 people to the fediverse, tomorrow. No promise. It’s been pretty intense. As expected.

  7. @Telias There are some livestreams (from two rooms). And some people still end up on birdsite. Wish there were a better way to crosspost. @cogdog has been making connections. #oeglobal22

  8. @lightweight Watching #oeglobal22 remotely, but posting this reply from a different instance to the one you posted the original question. But you already know that 😂

  9. Hearing references to Musk, blockchain and more this morning. As we think about the future of education, we must also interrogate the technologies and infrastructure we build on. Digital pedagogies need to be critical or risk perpetuating/exacerbating inequities. Algorithms are not neutral and open can be weaponized. #OEGlobal22

  10. Let's see if people at #OEGlobal22 see this post on the NZ-based Fediverse! This is how open-and-distributed works... I wonder who the first attendee from, say, the northern hemisphere to see and boost it will be...

  11. Hope more people will toot about #OEGlobal22. If not, we’ll summarize afterwards, for all the #OpenEducation practitioners and advocates, here.

  12. An impactful #FeeWaiver program for #InternationalStudents in Quebec’s #HigherEd.
    .
#OpenEducation is about much more than #TuitionFees (cegeps are tuition-free for Qc residents), we share values on broadened access. Important topic for #OEGlobal22 , as we meet in Nantes, on Monday.

  13. So, I’m in Europe for #OpenEducation activities. Mainly #oeglobal22, in Nantes, May 23–25. The main reason I’m already here is because I’m part of an ad hoc transcontinental OE group, based in Switzerland. And it just so happens that tomorrow is Open Education Day in CH. openeducationday.ch
It’s also a great opportunity to put my ear to the ground in terms of OE initiatives in France and Switzerland. Feels like #fieldwork.
