#NewJersey's first offshore #windfarm hits a milestone – and #CapeMay county is fighting all of it
US Department of the Interior announced the approval of the construction and operation of the #OceanWind1 project. So that okays 98 turbines and up to three #offshorewindsubstations. It’s slated to be finished in 2025.

"#NewJersey Governor Phil Murphy is planning on 7,500 gigawatts of #OffshoreWind by 2035, of which 1,100 will go to the #OceanWind1 project if all goes according to plan. A farther-out goal of 11,000 megawatts by 2040 is also on the boards."

Third #OffshoreWind farm coming to #US East Coast:
"#OceanWind1 joins two other projects, the #VineyardWind project in Massachusetts and the# SouthForkWind project in New York, both of which are now under construction. #Ørsted plans to have tall structures that will support wind turbines, called monopiles, installed in 2024 and to begin commercial operations in 2025."
