  1. Local #nttwEffect: today colleagues from the Austrian Mediathek and the Austrian Filmmuseum came to visit our archives and gave us some useful input about some of our equipment. In the coming weeks we’ll visit them as well. And we initially met each other at #nttw7 in Prague. 😃

  2. The #nttw7 video presentations are now online!! 💻💫
A heartfelt thanks to our video editing volunteers for their contributions!

  3. Second opportunity (not at my work) for AV Archivists. There is an Audiovisual Archivist position at UNESCO. careers.unesco.org/job/Paris-A
    The position is for a P2 and is based in #Paris. #AVpres #archives #digipres #nttw #nttw7

  4. I wrote a few thoughts about this year's No Time to Wait! conference. Feeling very fortunate to be part of this knowledgeable and friendly community! 🎮📼📽️📶 💿💽 #DigitalPreservation #AVpreservation #NTTW7 digitalpreservation-blog.lib.c

  5. Missing all of my conferences this year - #nttw7, #AMIA23, & #DigiPres2023. Unfortunately, my uni has redefined #avpreservation & #digipres in a way that just does not make sense and in a way that makes it difficult for me to attend events like these.

  6. #NoTimeToWait7 notes are amazing! It's as if I was following the session live. Thank you #NTTW7 note takers @yvonne, @erwin, Reto, Randi and others. bit.ly/nttw7notes

  7. Really great to hear @kmur and Joan Hua on how we can make digital preservation open-source desktop applications more accessible at #NTTW7. I'm grateful that LOC and AVP are putting resources into this work and also pushing for us all to think more about designing for accessibility. Below you can find some recommended guidelines. And read the collaborative notes! People, not me, took really great notes with much more detail: docs.google.com/document/d/1Q_

  8. #NTTW7 Peter B. mentions xxHash. Beyond a sentence in the #DPC report on Which algorithm to use? and the Github repo (github.com/Cyan4973/xxHash), is there some written feedback on its use in the #digipres context?

  9. @dericed There was also a great question: Is the documentation in #COPTR? Answer: We don’t have it now, but maybe could be an outcome of the Camera Card Convening in December. So DC #avpres folks: There will be a Camera Card Convening on December 11 in DC. @cristalyze is organizing, so possibly reach out to her if you're interested. #NTTW7

  10. Great #NTTW7 presentation from Chialin Chou, @dericed and Bleakley McDowell on MKV Tags and Camera Card processing at NMAAHC. Their #Githubr repositories: github.com/NMAAHC/camera-cards and github.com/NMAAHC/nmaahcmm

  11. Please don’t take my grump as dissing #NTTW7 - it’s been great and I’m enjoying having on while I try to restart our crawlers! See bit.ly/nttw7stream (and thanks for the link @archivist_Liz )

  12. @mickylindlar I always encourage people who are even a little bit interested to attend #NTTW. I'm not an AV archivist or conservator, & there is a lot I don't understand. But I've still gained a lot from attending, even if it's just to learn what others are up to, to know who I can reach out to when I have AV (file) issues & to become more aware of my knowledge gaps. So I would encourage people to attend & also bring their own (preservation) issues. It's a pretty open and welcoming space #NTTW7

  13. @mickylindlar I think #NTTW has included video game preservation and time-based art preservation at least since #NTTW4 in Budapest, so I would say #NTTW7 is continuing on that trajectory. But my impression is that the curriculum of students is changing and becoming more interdisciplinary, so I feel like I've spoken to several young professionals or grad students here who are really at the intersection of conservation, and AV, digital, and software preservation. It's exciting

  14. @anj I hope you stayed anyway because the next presentation from Aida Garrido is so impressive. She wrote a #python code and methodology for detecting the sine wave tones. Pretty technical, my mind is blown. I’m always impressed with people who deeply understand math and physics #NTTW7

  15. @archivist_Liz
cool! I'm missing out on #NTTW7 again this year due to too much other stuff. What i heard/read though is that #NTTW has significantly expanded its horizont from just AV preservation to more complex object preservation topics. do you think that's acurate to say?

  16. Tuned into #NTTW7 but immediately frustrated by the kind of “ensuring an alien can watch Colombo in 10,000 years” presentation that, while admittedly fun to think about, is fundamentally distopian and unhelpful.

Feels like our version of Effective Altruism’s willingness to sacrifice today’s souls for tomorrow’s ‘minds’.

Okay, I’ll stop being grumpy now!

  17. Jonáš Svatoš talking about developing Czech Digital Games Preservation at #NTTW7. There was a mention of #EaaSi :)

  18. Back at #NTTW7 this morning. There are collaborative notes: docs.google.com/document/d/1Q_ and a livestream: bit.ly/nttw7stream. Come hang out virtually if you can't be here with us in Prague

  19. #NTTW7 who was the person who expressed their interest for an error-detection tool for MP4 AVC AAC please?

  20. @kmur, @dericed and @JeromeM (@MediaArea) on Updates to FFmpeg to support expanded needs for timecode and captions. Through this work #ffv1 in #Matroska went from an accepted to a preferred format in the #FADGI Recommended Formats Statement. #nttw7

  21. @nkrabben on AV Formats in #PRONOM. (Also discussing DROID and #Siegfried.) Example of the difference between how PRONOM looks for an mp4 signature vs how #MediaInfo identifies an mp4. #NTTW7

  22. It looks like digipres.club maintenance is completed? And we're back from lunch break at #NTTW7 Next up, a presentation a ACMI and #Wikidata.

  23. This morning I"m the remote participant coordinator at #NTTW7. This means I'm monitoring the livestream chat and asking questions on behalf of remote participants. The WIFI here is a little overloaded, so feel free to @ me here to ask questions as well!
