@skudfisher #NorthStarFigs #Oathmark range. Just something so elegant about all the minis.

Something very satisfying about the #NorthStarFigs #Miniatures. I boil it down to a bit of elegant simplicity. #Minis are beautiful, the figures within each range feel all belong together, but manage to be individual and carry the “right” amount of detail so they are still lovely to explore.
Think I’ll paint these up, look at an opposing 20-ish Dwarf force, and get a wee refresher/intro game in with someone.

Those extra pointy elf warriors out of the way.
Who’s gone on that threatened hobby tangent?!? That’s right! This hobby magpie. Pulling some bits off the shelf and dusting them off. I’ve been doing the fun bit of re-reading army lists. Rules can come later.

The bucks over at #NorthStarFigs have been nattering about #Oathmark - chatting about how it’s a one box and go game. Do wish they’d get a starter set that was 15 of two units and a leaflet of ‘rules lite’. I found the system a really nice rank and flank game, that had some nice mechanics and the official range of miniatures are gorgeous. Would love to see it get more air time from hobbyists.

The #Oathmark Kits are equally beautiful miniatures but more minimalist on the detail - wouldn’t be hard 😂. What’s great about them for me is even though they are new - there’s a sense of nostalgia building the minis. Limited number of pieces moves you to kitbash (which North Star stuff is great for) or to push your poses and piece mixes. Simple but fun and rewarding puzzle. Less of a quest, more of a familiar walk that always throws up surprises.

The only actually frustrating thing with GW is when you use a piece that fits, looks like the piece, you think you’ve read the manual right - but, it’s not the piece and because you’ve used it somewhere else something isn’t going to work out. You learn to double check, and that really does become something of a none issue though.

GW are just beautiful sprues, the detail, the end products - all very satisfying, sometimes with a tired head the manuals are nuts, don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel like the numbering of parts is a bit wild. It can be like a treasure hunt to find pieces which isn’t actually all that bad of a task when you think about it.

When is said I was considering building up some bits and couldn’t decide between #Oathmark or #Killteam Into the Dark terrain, what I really mean was I’d muck about with both.
Big contrast building from a #GamesWorkshop vs #NorthStarFigs sprue. Both enjoyable and fun stuff to do, but very different.
