Unsettlingly dark sky . . . .
Thunder . . . .
= Yikes! -
Bestie just got back in town and we resumed our weekly dinners.
She had to be evacuated today from a zen retreat that was literally half-assing a disaster plan during the past two weeks.
The retreat attendees and volunteers had to organize their OWN rescue from an isolated and increasingly unstable area because the retreat director refused to even admit there was a state of emergency and had zero plan.
Fucking useless & dangerous.
Evacuate people BEFORE they need to be rescued.

Thunder and Lightning and intense rain. Oh hello. Got my attention thanks.

It turns out one of the trucks with dumpsters that came to the house left some deep ruts right beside the top slope of of our driveway. Those ruts are channeling away massive amounts of water exactly as if someone had trenched on purpose. How's that for good luck and timing!

According to our rain gauge it’s rained 3.94 inches in the last 24 hours. #NorCalStorm

A second driveway tree came down. Also into the neighbor’s field. Bad for her fence but good for us not needing emergency tree removal. #NorCalStorm

Having the driveway trees trimmed or taken out over the summer surely saved us from being blocked in today. The tree that fell was one they said wasn't an issue since if it fell it would land in the neighbor's field. Which it did.

We do have one tree down along the driveway, but it fell into the neighbor's field so the driveway isn't blocked. Will contact the neighbor later and ask it its OK to leave it for a bit. I'm certain our tree person will be very busy with actual tree emergencies. I cleared one medium-small branch.Pictures later when it's light.

Raining harder and sideways. Some stuff blowing about outside.

The rain sounds like a spilling bag of hammers.

My neighborhood is full of trees.

The rain is now a drizzle, but the wind is picking up. Just watched a buzzard getting buffeted by the wind. Usually they glide through the air. I could see this one getting pushed around.
